J&J / Invision, a privately owned commercial
carpet manufacturer based in Dalton, GA, announced today the
certification of ISO (International Organization for
Standardization) 14001 by NSF.
This certification comes as a result of an established
organization-wide environmental management system.
J&J / Invision began the certification
process in September 2007.
The company formatted a process for determining and
improving significant environmental impacts.
This included adapting new processes and systems, as well
as training associates.
The certification exemplifies J&J /
Invision’s corporate commitment to reducing pollution and
minimizing the company’s environmental impact on air, water, and
land.
These impacts were
determined as: waste water discharge, water consumption,
electrical consumption, solid waste management and natural gas
consumption. Improvement processes for each significant impact
were developed along with a plan for continual improvement.
The ISO exists to help organizations minimize
how their operations negatively affect the environment; comply
with applicable laws, regulations, and other
environmentally-oriented requirements; and continually improve
on each of these.
The ISO 14001 environmental standard was launched in 1996
and is currently used in 138 countries.
“We are very pleased that J&J / Invision has
achieved ISO 14001 certification,” stated David Jolly, President
and COO of J&J / Invision.
“It is evidence of our on-going commitment to the
environment, and this certification is the result of the efforts
of our many dedicated associates and their genuine desire to be
good stewards of our natural resources.”
This certification is an extension of the
existing environmental program at J&J / Invision, called EnAct®.
EnAct® is an organization – wide focus on reducing,
recycling, reusing and creating a healthier, more sustainable
environment.
