At J&J Industries, we are committed to environmental responsibility. We work continually to reduce our waste, to reuse whatever possible, and to recycle at every opportunity. EnAct®, our environmental action, is not a marketing program; it is a philosophy that pervades every aspect of our company.  It is a belief that we are fortunate in our opportunities and, therefore, responsible for our actions. We believe we have a choice. And we choose to do business fairly, to treat our customers as we wish to be treated, and to leave for future generations a better world.

   As a corporate citizen, we take our responsibility for the environment seriously. We formed the Environmental Stewardship Committee in 1992 to analyze every aspect of our operations and implement programs to reduce our manufacturing impact on the environment. We encourage everyone associated with J&J to act; we will not wait for governmental intervention or regulation to do what is right for our community and our world.

   Reduce. Reuse. Recycle. The goal of EnAct® is to reduce the environmental impact of our facilities by reducing our waste of raw materials, energy and water in every department of our business. We seek to reduce the atmospheric emissions and improve the quality of water we return to the local treatment facilities. We continually seek to recycle or reuse whenever possible, granting new life to what were once exclusively waste products.

   For years we have extruded our own solution-dyed nylon to control the color, quality, and construction of the products we manufacture. Because our fiber contains a significant percentage of recycled nylon , we consume millions fewer pounds of virgin nylon feedstock each year. Our solution dyeing process uses less water than other dyeing methods. In addition, each carpet we manufacture qualifies for inclusion in J&J’s carpet reclamation program after the carpet has completed its useful life.

   Proof Positive. In the past years, we have reduced landfill-bound waste by 80 percent. We won first place in the national Keep America Beautiful Awards–business and industry category.

At the state level, J&J was recognized as a Model Level company by the Georgia Department of Natural Resources and won the Georgia Clean and Beautiful Business/Industry Recycling Award. Locally, we received the Green Salute Award for solid waste reduction from the Dalton affiliate of Keep America Beautiful.

   We are proud to meet or exceed all Environmental Protection Agency guidelines as set forth in the 1990 Clean Air Act.
